Challenges of the port of Buenaventura-Colombia for the automation of its logistic processes

This research deals with the current situation of the port of Buenaventura and the shortcomings of its infrastructure and logistical processes; and how these processes are susceptible to automation and thus can increase its competitiveness to be at the level of the world's leading ports. For this research we used an inductive method of information collected from different sources of authors who have addressed the issue of automation of logistics processes, seeking to take from the general to the specific, of the objectives that seek to find establish the current state of the port, which changes must be made in this to implement automation in their logistics processes based on the benefits that have had the world's leading ports. Although Buenaventura is a strategically located port, the economic, social and infrastructure barriers that the port faces make it less competitive in the global market. The social problem presented by the port is the most complex challenge, as it must overcome a culture of crime, poverty, inequality and corruption. For this reason, in order to achieve a substantial change in the infrastructure through the automation of the logistic processes of the port, it is first necessary to break the social situation that surrounds it and that does not allow its evolution. To overcome this problem, the port must ensure that the state does its part in the investment and care of the area of Buenaventura and pressure to improve the living conditions of the population, because only then can it attract the necessary investment and establish the conditions to successfully achieve a process of automation of the logistics processes of the port.
Desafíos del puerto de Buenaventura-Colombia para la automatización de sus procesos logísticos

Esta investigación trata sobre la situación actual del puerto de Buenaventura y qué falencias presenta su infraestructura y procesos logísticos; y cómo estos procesos son susceptibles de automatización y así pueda aumentar su competitividad para estar a nivel de los puertos líderes en el mundo. Para esta investigación se utilizó un método inductivo de la información recolectada de diferentes fuentes de autores que han abordado el tema sobre la automatización de procesos logísticos, buscando llevar desde lo general a lo específico, de los objetivos planteados que buscan como hallazgo establecer el estado actual del puerto, que cambios se deben realizar en este para implementar la automatización en sus procesos logísticos basados en los beneficios que han tenido los puertos líderes a nivel mundial. A pesar de que Buenaventura es un puerto que cuenta con una ubicación geográfica estratégica, las barreras económicas, sociales y de infraestructura que enfrenta este, hace que pierda competitividad en el mercado global. El problema social que presenta el puerto es el reto más complejo, ya que debe vencer una cultura de delincuencia, pobreza, desigualdad y corrupción. Por esta razón, para lograr un cambio sustancial en la infraestructura por medio de la automatización de los procesos logísticos del puerto, primero se debe romper la situación social que lo rodea y que no permite su evolución. Para vencer esta problemática, el puerto debe velar porque el estado haga su parte en la inversión y cuidado de la zona de Buenaventura y presionar por mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población, porque solo así ésta podrá lograr atraer la inversión necesaria y establecer las condiciones para lograr con éxito un proceso de automatización de los procesos logísticos del puerto.
