    Competitive advantages of the Panama Canal in the integration of transport between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean

    This project describes the conditions through which the Panama Canal has evolved and developed throughout time, and in particular, since the year 2016 with the implementation of the expansion of the Canal. Furthermore, we were able to identify the competitive advantages of the Panama Canal in the integration of transportation between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, achieving a detailed description of the efficiency and competitiveness of the port. In addition, we analyzed the problems of the port within the general context of its socio-economic development. Its effects and how its infrastructure contributes to the operation of the Panamanian canal. In the development of the work, it was found that the Panama Canal has one of the most modern and competitive port terminals in the maritime market, which has generated growth in the maritime and logistics industries and at the same time has an increase in the economic activities of the country. Facilitating the commercialization of goods and services worldwide; likewise, the expansion of the Canal allowed the country to increase its competitive capacity thanks to the entry of larger ships such as the Neopanamax, which allows the transport of larger volumes of cargo, generating a reduction in costs, time and distance

    Ventajas Competitivas del Canal de Panamá en la integración del transporte entre el océano Atlántico y el océano Pacífico

    Este trabajo describe las condiciones por las cuales a travesado el Canal de Panamá y nos permite mostrar su desarrollo y evolución a través de los últimos años y en particular, desde el año 2016 con la puesta en marcha la ampliación del Canal. Por otro lado, se identificó las ventajas competitivas del Canal de Panamá en la integración del transporte entre el Océano Atlántico y el Pacífico, logrando un acercamiento descriptivo de las características de la eficiencia y competitividad portuaria. Así mismo, se analiza la problemática portuaria dentro del contexto general del desarrollo socio-económico del Canal de Panamá, sus efectos y como contribuye la infraestructura en la operatividad del canal panameño. En el desarrollo del trabajo se encontró que el Canal de Panamá cuenta con una de las terminales portuarias más modernas y competitivas del mercado marítimo, lo que ha generado crecimiento de la industria marítima, logística y a la vez un incremento en las actividades económicas del país. Facilitando la comercialización de bienes y servicios a nivel mundial. A sí mismo la ampliación del canal permitió que el país incrementara su capacidad competitiva gracias al ingreso de buques más grandes como el Neopanamax que permite transportar volúmenes de carga más amplio generando reducción en costos, tiempo y distancia.
